The Mexican star Thalía celebrated her 35th birthday the last Saturday with a "wassail" that was organized by her husband, Tommy Mottola, the 56 year-old North American magnate, head of the Casablanca records. The party took place in their luxurious residence with nine rooms in the exclusive colony of The Hamptons, in the middle of the beach of Long Island, New York. Official sources reported that the list of guests was made up of a limited number of the couple's friends, among others: Gloria and Emilio Estefan, who had been "the Cupids" (who helped them fall in love ) of their relationship.
Also came Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, her sister Titina Sodi and her niece Camila, the Mexican actor Victor Noriega, Cristina Saralegui and her husband Marcos, Carla Estrada (producer of soap operas), Rosie O'Donnel and for example the stockholders of the branches of K'mart, where Thalía distributes her Collection and chocolates. As a present from her husband, Mrs Mottola received the keys of a mansion that can be found at the foot of "Monte Sopris", 50 km from Aspen in Colorado, where the couple usually spends some time in winter -- 25 days a year -- and for what they paid $47 million. McCartney was mistaken with pregnant Jennifer Lopez
Jesse McCartney is sorry for claiming Jennifer Lopez is pregnant, admitting he was mistaken. The Digital Spy notes the singer let the information slip during a radio interview, but has retracted his statement after the actress' spokesperson strongly denied the news.
“She is 100 per cent not pregnant”, Lopez’s representative told Us Weekly."I have no first hand knowledge whether Jennifer Lopez is pregnant or not. I thought I had read it somewhere. I apologize" stated McCartney. Posted on 28 Aug 2006

Jennifer Lopez is pregnant, a close friend has claimed. Former 'American Idol' star Jess McCartney let the news slip during an interview with Atlanta radio station, Star 94 on Thursday.
When the 'Right Where You Want Me' singer was asked why Jennifer Lopez had pulled out of her new movie 'Dallas' he responded: "She didn't get fired. She's pregnant." As soon as he realised what he said, the 19-year-old turned to his personal assistant and asked: "Was I not supposed to say anything?" J.Lo - who is married to singer Marc Anthony - recently admitted she is desperate to start a family and had started eating spinach to make her more fertile. On her doctor's recommendations, the Latin star has allegedly been eating the leafy vegetable three times a day to boost her intake of folic acid and increase her chances of conception. She said: "Since my doctor recommended it I've been on spinach omelettes for breakfast, spinach salad for lunch and sautéed spinach with every dinner. Toronto film festival promises stars, premieres
The 31st annual Toronto Film festival will attract more star power than usual this year with Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Sean Penn among the Oscar winners and Hollywood heavyweights expected to attend.

Arbitration sought in Jennifer Lopez suit
A dispute between Jennifer Lopez and her ex-husband over his proposed tell-all book about their relationship does not need to go to court, their attorneys said Wednesday. The attorneys told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Victor H. Person that the issues between Lopez and Ojani Noa could be settled through arbitration. Another pretrial hearing was set for Oct. 17.
Jennifer Lopez filed suit April 10 and obtained a temporary restraining order barring Noa from publishing intimate details of her sex life. On June 30, she and Noa agreed to have the order extended as a preliminary injunction. Jennifer Lopez was not present at Wednesday's hearing, but will have to attend if the judge orders a mandatory settlement conference. Her lawyer, Kristina L. Brittenham, declined to comment. Noa's attorney, Robert Vasquez, also declined to talk about the case. Jennifer Lopez, who has appeared in such films as "Selena," "Out of Sight " and "Monster-in-Law," married Noa in February 1997 after meeting him in a Miami restaurant. They divorced 11 months later. Last October, Noa and Lopez settled a lawsuit he brought against her, alleging he was illegally fired as manager of her Los Angeles area restaurant, Madre's. In exchange for a $125,000 payment from Lopez, Noa agreed not to disparage her or make money off disclosure of his relationship with her, according to her court papers. On Jan. 19, he wrote a letter to Lopez's attorneys saying he would continue to market his book, reportedly titled "The Unknown Truth: A Passionate Portrait of a Serial Thriller," unless Lopez paid him $5 million, according to court papers. Puerto Rico’s Voice of Salsa, Lost but Found
AMONG the many films competing for attention at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival will be one whose subject, the charismatic salsa singer Héctor Lavoe, all but demanded big screen treatment. Considered by many to represent the very soul of the Puerto Rican people — his nickname was “La Voz” (“The Voice”) — Mr. Lavoe teetered between high drama and full-blown tragedy. He was renowned for his intuitive connection to the audience. Yet he was also a drug addict whose final years were beset by his mother-in-law’s murder and the accidental shooting death of a son, the destruction of his house in a fire and his own suicide attempt. Mr. Lavoe died in 1993, at 46, from cardiac arrest, possibly from complications of AIDS.
“He is almost a sacrificial lamb, that one guy who would represent legions of fans but lived the most painful life imaginable,” said the singer Marc Anthony, who portrays Mr. Lavoe in the new film, “El Cantante” (“The Singer”). “That’s just what he was born to be.” Mr. Anthony came to the project through Jennifer Lopez, who has since become his wife. Five years ago she was looking for projects for her new company, Nuyorican Productions, and immediately responded to a screenplay about Mr. Lavoe’s life sent to her by his widow, Nilda, known as Puchi, who has since died. “At that time I knew of him, but not much about him,” said the Bronx-born Ms. Lopez in a recent telephone interview. As she began doing research, she was particularly struck by Mr. Lavoe’s skill as a sonero, a salsa singer who improvises verses. “He was one of the best soneros that ever lived,” she said. “He was a voice of the people, a jibaro, a boy from the sticks. People identified with him.” Ms. Lopez quickly realized that the screenplay would need a rewrite by someone familiar with his music and milieu, and that the lead required a singer and actor whose chops were strong enough to compare with the legend’s.
