Jennifer Lopez's fragrances funds films
Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez is thrilled with the success of her fragrance line because it allows her to raise money to make her own films. The If You Had My Love singer launched her range of perfumes four years ago and has enjoyed global sales of more than GBP256 million. She explains, "I never thought my perfumes would do so well. The whole perfume thing has been great because it's creative, but at the same time you can make a little bit of money doing it. "I bankrolled Bordertown, El Cantante and the Spanish album. Artists don't make a ton of money from CD sales. The record company makes most of the money. "Interestingly, at the end of the day, El Cantante, Bordertown and the Spanish album could turn out to make no money, and it was out of my own pocket."
Jennifer Lopez even says should her other projects fail, her fragrance line will have always been a stunning success. She adds, "Yes, I'll always have the perfume. The fact that it allows me to make the creative choices I have, now, that's really the sweet smell of success."

Jennifer Lopez Avoids Legal Snafu Over Canceled Tour Dates
Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez has managed to avoid legal action after promising to reimburse promoters following her canceled European and Asian mini-tour. The star pulled out of a string of gigs in Mumbai, India; Dubai; Moscow, Russia: Sofia, Bulgaria; Istanbul, Turkey; and Thessaloniki, Greece, earlier this month without giving an explanation.

Following Lopez's cancellation, Bulgarian promoters Pick and More told the press they were teaming up with the rest of the promoters to sue Lopez, to retrieve the fees they paid her for the July 23 concert.

However, Lopez has now been in contact with the concert promoters and has vowed to reimburse them for any advertising expenses and supplies that were imported from the United States for her backstage rider. Bulgarian promoter Ivaila Bakalova tells MTV, "She told us everything would be OK."

Singer loses suit against Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J song
On Wednesday a California federal appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed in 2003 against Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J. The court decided singer Debra Laws did not have a case against the artists or Sony Music for allegedly misappropriating her 1981 song "Very Special" in their 2002 collaboration, "All I Have." Since Sony obtained a license to use a 10-second segment of Laws' song, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Laws should instead sue her label and publisher for breach of contract for entering a license agreement without her authorization.

Arrest in Jennifer Lopez and Anthony extortion scandal
A convicted murderer was arrested yesterday for attempting to extort $1 million from celebrity couple Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez in exchange for their 2004 wedding video. Ex-con Tito Moses, 31, and Steven Wortman, 40, were arrested in New York City on Tuesday, following weeks of negotiation with the Latin star's lawyers. Major Case Squad Inspector Michael Hines tells the New York Post, "They were shocked because they thought they were coming for their payday -- and instead, they got the surprise of their lives." The video of the couple's June 2004 marriage ceremony was on Anthony's laptop computer, which was stolen along with the singer's Cadillac in New Jersey on October 30. Earlier this month, TV show "Access Hollywood" received a phone call from Moses, offering the video in exchange for a high price.

MTV Shows Off J. Lo's "Moves"
MTV is impressed by Jennifer Lopez's "Moves." The network has given the greenlight to a new dance-based reality series executive produced by the multihyphenate diva.
In something of a Real World meets Solid Gold premise, the show will follow the lives of six aspiring dancers as they struggle to make it in the competitive world of professional dance.
The smooth-moving hopefuls include Staci, a former Pussycat Doll who wants to become a singer; Jersey, who hopes her dance moves will elevate her out of debt; Nolan, who has struggled with personal problems to make it to where he is now; Blake, the cocky guy, who makes sure everyone is well aware of his prowess on the dance floor; Kenny, a former baseball player and heavy party animal; and Celestina, who thinks of dancing as the first step in building her own hip-hop empire.
"There are very few people who have attained the level of success Jennifer has. Across music, film and more, she is recognized worldwide, and it all began with dance," Lois Curren, MTV's executive vice president of entertainment and programming, said in a statement.
"Now she will share her experience and knowledge with a new generation of dancers, and we'll find out if they have what it takes to stand up to her expectations."
Lopez, who took an active role in selecting the show's participants, is also slated to make cameo appearances over the course of the season.
"I started out as a dancer and I know what that world is," Lopez said in a statement. "These dancers have dedicated their lives to this and, honestly, the glory is not always there. It's something they do only out of love. It's a tough life and I want to show that struggle."
The show's eight-episode run is scheduled to kick off this winter.
Meanwhile, if the rumor mill is to be believed--which J. Lo's camp insists it isn't--the singer-actress might currently have another project in the works. Call it a joint production with husband Marc Anthony, if you will. In Touch magazine reports in its latest issue that Lopez is three months pregnant and expecting her first child in December. Signs of her supposed pregnancy include a so-called belly bulge and visible gray roots--an indication that she may be avoiding dying her hair at the advice of her doctor.
Fueling suspicions even more, Lopez recently called off her world tour scheduled for this spring, according to a statement posted by Mirage Promotions on its Website.
Even so, reps for the Monster-in-Law star maintain she is not in the family way.

Jennifer Lopez expecting?
Jennifer Lopez is rumoured to be three months pregnant with her first baby.
The Latin beauty - who has made no secret of her desire to have children with husband Marc Anthony - is due to give birth around Christmas, a source told America's In Touch magazine.
The 'Monster-In-Law' actress sparked pregnancy rumours when she was spotted sporting an apparent baby bump and grey roots at the ALMA awards in Los Angeles earlier this month. During the event Anthony spoke publicly of having a baby, saying: "I'm looking forward to starting a family." The following day, the beautiful singer fuelled speculation by cancelling her upcoming tour.
It's been reported Jennifer, who is due to turn 37 in June, could face legal action after pulling out of her scheduled gigs in several countries. Bulgarian promoter Nina Girginova has said: "Whatever the reason is, she should have explained it, and even if she had lied it would have been better than not giving the fans any reason at all."
